Monte Carlo Golf Club
The golf club was created in 1911 under the influence of a large British colony, which at that time lived in the principality and neighboring cities. As the “land issue” is very difficult to solve in a tiny princedom, Mont-Agel with its picturesque slopes became an ideal place to host a golf club, although during construction it was necessary to compete with many puzzles of the local mountain landscape. Despite the mild climate of the Cote d’Azur, the winters at Mont-Agel are quite harsh (sometimes there is snow up to a meter deep), and the summers are very hot. Builders were forced to study many parameters, in particular, the problem of watering the golf course, which is currently resolved through the use of a high-tech irrigation system.
However, due to the difficulty of the route along which the game took place, this golf club did not enjoy a great reputation. Thirty years ago, major construction work was undertaken to increase and improve the golf course, which was supposed to turn it into a real route worthy of any championship. The participation of world-famous masters in the person of Severino Ballesteros and Jan Wusnam since the organization of the Open World Championship was an excellent way to convince all fans of this game that you can “play” on the site of the Monte Carlo Golf Club.
Since then, remaining a truly mountainous route on top of a steep cliff, but in an exceptional landscape, the Monte Carlo Golf Club has been registering a steady increase in the number of its participants. However, the policy of the club’s managers does not provide for profitability at all costs, but on the contrary, is aimed at its continuous improvement and improvement of the quality of services, at preserving the quality of the game of past years, so that club members and visitors do not feel inconvenience from the crowded route.
